Photos taken at Sutton Walks on Sutton Heath, Suffolk.
Park in the car park just on the bend of the B1083. (Directions from Melton railway station).
It was a beautifully crisp and mostly sunny day - 2nd January 2010, starting at about 1:15pm.

1. An open five-bar gate at the back of the car park, invites you to start your walk in a roughly clockwise direction. We set off to the right of here, taking a roughly anti-clockwise route so that we kept in the sun for longer.

2. Pine and fir trees, dead bracken and a light covering of overnight snow.

3. More of the pine and fir trees, dead bracken, small birch trees, and snow.

4. Low sunlight striking a narrow stretch of birch alongside the footpath.

5. Out onto open heathland, with many dog and rabbit footprints in the snow.

6. Beginning the 'return path' with farmland fenced off to the right, and reddish dormant birches.

7. Back through the woods to another section of birch woods.

8. Back at the car park at around 2pm, the clouds moving in to give more sleet and snow later.
