The Suffolk Coast Destination Management Organisation is delighted to announce that it has been successful in securing almost £100,000 of funding from the Department of Business, Innovation and Skills, Business Support Scheme Funds.
The fund will be held by Waveney and Suffolk Coastal District Councils and has been granted so that the DMO may seek to help local businesses affected by last year’s flooding/ tidal surge. The DMO is seeking to manage the perception held by some potential visitors that The Suffolk Coast is susceptible to disruption caused by flooding. This will ensure that visitors are not put off coming to the area and that businesses will continue to benefit from a buoyant tourist economy.
Plans for the promotion of The Suffolk Coast include a London Underground advertising campaign and a South East commuter advertising campaign in National Rail stations and regional media. The DMO will be generating new imagery of the Suffolk Coast in autumn, winter and spring in order to show off the beauty of the area and the number of events taking place out of season. The year round events calendar will be promoted in the national press, reinforcing the excellent and varied offer that The Suffolk Coast has for visitors.
A condition of the grant being awarded is that the activity funded is targeted at those locations and businesses affected by the floods last year. The selection of media, audience location, featured attractions and marketing messages will show regard to this.
This is excellent news for all DMO members and businesses along the Suffolk Coast.
Huge thanks to Fiona Johnson for all her hard work on securing the fund.
