A Woodbridge inventor has created a coffee cup which can be recycled in existing systems.
Martin Myerscough, from Woodbridge, Suffolk, hopes Frugal Cups will help cut the estimated 2.5 billion coffee cups thrown away in the UK each year.
In late October Blue Planet II started running on the BBC and not for the first time Sir David Attenborough was changing the world, altering our perception of plastic pollution in the world’s oceans.
He called on people to cut down on plastic waste by stopping “functionless” uses of the material and has now been credited with driving international action on plastics, including UK Government proposals to ban plastic straws, cotton buds and drink stirrers.
Sir David said: “We can never go far enough, because we shall always be overwhelmed with plastic, but at the moment we are using plastic in a completely functionless way.”
