Businesses in Woodbridge are being invited to take part in a series of workshops aimed at increasing footfall and enticing new customers.
The Choose Woodbridge Essential Business Masterclasses are a short series of “how to” workshops giving business owners access to some of the world’s leading inspirational speakers and subject matter experts.
The aim is to tool up local retailers to differentiate themselves and thrive in the choppy waters of the current challenging retail market.
After all, in today’s climate: where food gets delivered to your door, Amazon holds the key to a quick click and out of town retail parks scream “big, efficient shopping”, independent shops need all the help they can get.
Of course, in Woodbridge, you can’t put a price on the unique shopping experience on offer.
From long-standing family-run businesses like Barretts, which just celebrated its 50-year anniversary, to award-winning businesses such as the Cake Shop and the Woodbridge Kitchen Company, whose window displays beat Harrods in a national competition, the town offers diversity and originality.
But no business can afford to rest on its laurels – which is why the masterclasses are a fabulous idea.
The classes are open exclusively to Choose Woodbridge members – of which there are 184.
The first three speakers have just been confirmed.
On 28 October international performance coach, keynote speaker and hypnotherapist Tony Moorcroft will show us how to influence, enthuse and motivate people.
On 14 November, Greg Jones, a partner at Greene and Greene solicitors will show us how to be the best employer, focusing on leveraging employment law for the wellbeing of your employees and your business.
On 16 November, internationally renowned author, speaker and “retail futurist” Howard Saunders will help retailers to redefine what the high street can offer to encourage greater footfall.
This is not the first-time masterclasses have been held for Choose Woodbridge members, but the response was so positive last time, these are sure to be popular.
Paul Venediger, owner of the Woodbridge Kitchen Company, said: “As a small business with limited time and resources, having the opportunity to listen and engage with expert speakers across a range of pertinent subjects is extremely valuable to us.
“Sometimes you’re not quite sure what you’re going to get from ‘coaching’ or ‘training’ sessions, but I know with the Choose Woodbridge masterclass events that they’re going to be engaging, thought provoking and well worth attending.”
Michael Grist, Store Manager of Barretts of Woodbridge, said he had found the previous sessions very helpful.
“Given the challenges facing the high street, it’s vital we keep abreast of all the latest ideas and innovations in retail and inspiring leadership,” he said. “The Choose Woodbridge masterclass programme certainly delivers that. I’m very much looking forward to attending, and given they are free to Choose Woodbridge members, it’s a great reason to sign up and become an active supporter of Woodbridge.”
