Woodbridge has walked away with a raft of accolades at the East Suffolk Business and Community Awards 2019.

We were utterly thrilled that Choose Woodbridge scooped the Encouraging Tourism award after an incredible year which saw us host a fantastic street party to win highly commended in the Great British High Street awards.

Other winners included Woodbridge Rugby Club, who won Club of the Year for providing the RFU’s Core values of teamwork, respect, enjoyment, discipline and sportsmanship to all, and the Woodbridge Dementia Project, which took home the Enabling Communities Awards for engaging the local community and working to make the town dementia friendly community.

Deben Travel, on The Thoroughfare, were also among Woodbridge based winners, taking home the Customer Focus Award. The independent travel agency, which was founded by husband and wife team, Lee and Sarah Hunt, was praised for their empathise on customer satisfaction and continuous growth over their nine years of trading.

 

The awards saw a record number of entries this year with representatives of dozens of businesses across East Suffolk congregating at a spectacular prize-giving ceremony on Thursday 3rd October at The Hangar, Kesgrave Hall.

James Lightfoot, chairman of Choose Woodbridge, said: “Our town was very well represented at the awards and it is testament to the amazing work which goes on in Woodbridge that so many awards were won.

 

“Here at Choose Woodbridge we were utterly thrilled to be the champions of tourism. We work very hard to encourage people to visit the town and experience its diverse, unique and exciting shops, restaurants, pubs and attractions.

 

“Our work on the Great British High Street awards saw us bring together the community in all its glory and we are thrilled to have had this recognised.”

 

The award for Choose Woodbridge comes only two weeks after the business and tourism organisation took home two awards at the Chartered Institute of PR (CIPR) awards in Cambridge on Thursday 19th September.

 

Choose Woodbridge won Gold in the Travel, Leisure or Tourism Campaign category and Silver in the Best Event category alongside their PR agency, Prominent.
