Ahoy there! Watery opportunity on the river Deben

News ArticleAhoy there! Watery opportunity on the river Deben

Suffolk Coastal District Council is offering people the watery opportunity to run pleasure cruises on the River Deben.

It is inviting tenders from people interested in running pleasure boat trips from The Jetty, Jetty Lane, Woodbridge (beside Woodbridge Yacht Pond).

The Jetty Licence will allow the successful applicant to run the business from this prime location on the River Deben during the tourist season this year (2015).

“This is a unique opportunity to provide a tourist attraction on the River Deben from Woodbridge, harnessing the growing interest in the history and wildlife along this stretch of the river,” said Cllr Robert Whiting, Suffolk Coastal’s cabinet member with responsibility for Resources.

Applicants must have a valid Pleasure Boat Licence and will be required to operate in accordance with the Inland Waters Small Passenger Boat Code.

Anyone interested in applying for the Jetty Licence needs to submit brief details of their plans, including the nature of the operation, type of boat to be used and number of passengers it can carry.

The application needs to also include an offer for the licence fee for the period 3 April to 31 October, 2015.

The information should be sent to:
