East Suffolk Council

East Suffolk Council are financially supporting Choose Woodbridge through the Stay Local, Choose Woodbridge campaign, following an application to the East Suffolk Business Association Development Fund.

Choose Woodbridge are very grateful to have been awarded a £2,000 grant from East Suffolk Council in order to support local businesses throughout the coronavirus crisis.

East Suffolk Council has been playing a key role in ensuring that the re-opening of businesses and organisations across Suffolk and the continuation of essential services runs as smoothly as possible. The council has provided advice and guidance to businesses to ensure the safety of all staff and customers in the county and offered additional financial support through the East Suffolk Business Association Development Fund.

The purpose of the grant awarded is to support business groups, such as Choose Woodbridge, to respond to the COVID-19 outbreak in mobilising support for the business community.

In May, Choose Woodbridge launched a three-month campaign, Stay Local, Choose Woodbridge, in order to support all local businesses in and around Woodbridge. This includes businesses that have maintained operations throughout the crisis as well as those that have had to adapt their processes to allow them to continue to provide services to the local community.

The aim of the campaign is to encourage local people in Woodbridge to shop using local, independent businesses, with the intention of supporting the local economy and the health of local jobs.

The grant has enabled Choose Woodbridge to work together with businesses to offer the support and resources required to assist organisations in adapting to different ways of operating while still providing the same service to their local community.

Choose Woodbridge has endeavoured to work hard throughout the coronavirus crisis to get the message out to the public to shop local and are pleased that the East Suffolk Council acknowledges that Woodbridge town centre has been heavily disrupted by the impacts of Covid-19.

Therefore, Choose Woodbridge was awarded this grant to assist the association in providing the promotion of Woodbridge and its local businesses.
