The official ‘Woodbridge Fundraising Group’ of Marie Curie are holding a second Open Gardens and Teas event this year in the hope it will be as successful at the first event in 2014. The Woodbridge Fundraising Group of Marie Curie have been in existence for about 4 years and run the various street and other collections for the charity in the town and surrounds. They also run a number of one-off fundraising events.
The group was brought together by Marie Curie’s area organizer in March 2013. In their first year they raised £6,900, in the second year £13,900 and in the third year £9,600. That’s a total of £30,400 raised in 3 years.
Michael Bizzey, group member commented, “A fair proportion of that comes in collecting tins and I can tell you that we have become very adept at counting pennies (literally!). This ‘open gardens’ is our major fundraiser for this year and is a repeat of a similar event in 2014 which attracted about 250 visitors and raised over £2,700. All proceeds to Marie Curie – Care and Support through Terminal Illness.”
