Guess what? We are a very thirsty nation.
And it seems that during lockdown some of us are missing our great British pubs more than we are missing our friends and family!
According to an event supplies company which has carried out a bit of research, searches for “takeaway beer” are up by a staggering 2100% between February and April while “cocktail delivery” searches have shot up a whopping 5685.71% between the same period.
As the weather gets warmer, and the pub gardens stay closed, this is likely to rise even further.
But don’t panic – Woodbridge has got you covered.
The Angel on Theatre Street – just off Market Square – is the perfect place to start.
They are offering takeaway beer every day between 4.30pm and 6pm at £2 per pint for cask ale, lager and cider and £2.50 per pint for premium Suffolk Pilsner from Calvors.
Landlord Chris Mapey said: “We are getting fresh supplies twice a week from local breweries and suppliers and we’ve had to go and buy new stock seven times since we were allowed to open for takeaways.”
The Angel is also doing a “G&T to go” – a 50ml (double) shot of gin, fresh ice, garnish and a bottle of premium mixer for £5.
The King’s Head on Market Hill is also offering a takeaway service on Friday and Saturday nights between 5pm and 6pm.
Their selection includes Adnams Fisherman and Camden-on-Sea straight from the barrel – both at £2.20 per pint – and Fosters and Bitburger at £2 per pint.
They only accept card payments and they stock 4 pint reusable containers for sale at £2.50 or you can bring your own container.
And finally, shout out to The Cherry Tree who are not just doing takeaway lagers, ciders and crafts beer but adding in a takeaway fish and chips, burger and chips or satay sweet potato and butternut squash curry with basmati rice at £10 a dish.
This is available every Friday and Saturday evening (pickup only).
