A Talk from Peter Langford, Emergency Planning Officer

News ArticleA Talk from Peter Langford, Emergency Planning Officer

The Rotary Club of Woodbridge had an after dinner talk from Peter Langford Emergency Planning Officer for Suffolk and Suffolk Coastal Areas.

Another of his main objectives is to make the awareness and understanding of the Civil Contingencies Act (2004) as it affects Local Authorities plus the role of the Suffolk Resilience forum including the role and structure of the Joint Emergency Planning Unit (JEPU).  He has to explain the Roles and Responsibilities of the Local Authorities in preparing for, during and recovering from an emergency. He also has to contact the Volunteer and Community EmergencyPlanning groups and advise them how they can support the Local Authority.

In short his duty is to advise all authorities of the emergency, co-ordinate their actions and bring the planning under the appropriate units.

Rtn.Jeff Dunn thanked the speaker for an interesting talk and after a number of questions the members showed their thanks in the usual way.
