We are thrilled to announce that two Choose Woodbridge member pubs are among the best in the country for lunch.
The Ufford Crown in Ufford and The Crown in the Woodbridge Thoroughfare have just been named by The Times in its list of “The Best 30 pubs for lunch in Britain” written by food writer Andy Lynes.
The glass roofed bar with a wooden skiff over it rightly got a mention at the The Crown at Woodbridge which was praised for its loyalty to local produce in its seasonal dishes . The roasted butternut squash quinoa salad with beetroot puree and dill sour cream got a special mention.
Head Chef of The Crown, Ben Hegarty, was appointed in January 2019 and brought with him a new and inspiring four-course menu which he has called his ‘food story’.
The menu uses high-quality produce sourced from Suffolk and offers customers an experience that can be perfectly paired with a drinks flight.
Ufford Crown’s curried beef pie and rib of beef with seven-vegetable mash were the highlight of their entry.
A popular, family run restaurant, Ufford Crown provide diners with a daily changing menu that features hearty British pub food with a French influence made with fresh and local ingredients.
The restaurant is both family and dog friendly, which is perfect for a family outing.
James Lightfoot, chairman of Choose Woodbridge was delighted for the restaurants and said of their success:
“Both Ufford Crown and The Crown at Woodbridge are wonderful places to go – each offering unique experiences.
“It is amazing to see so many Choose Woodbridge member restaurants gaining the notoriety they deserve and to showcase all that is on offer here.”
