ITV Anglia
ITV Anglia are putting together a feature tomorrow on how the five heatwaves we’ve experienced this summer have affected tourism.
They’re keen to understand what’s actually happening on the ground across the Suffolk Coast and we’d really value your experiences and observations to help us build a picture for the interview.
There are a number of ways the heatwave may have affected your business, both positively and negatively. For example:
Have you seen a noticeable increase in visitors or day-trippers, particularly from people travelling from hotter inland areas?
Have seaside towns and coastal attractions been particularly busy during the heatwave?
Have you seen increased spending on ice creams, drinks, food, outdoor dining or other quick-turnaround purchases?
Have visitors changed their behaviour – for example, arriving earlier or later in the day to avoid the midday heat?
Have people been seeking out shaded, indoor or cooler attractions?
Have the extreme temperatures affected bookings, cancellations or visitor plans?
Have you experienced traffic congestion, full car parks, pressure on facilities or other infrastructure issues?
Have there been any impacts from wildfires, site closures or environmental concerns?
Have you noticed visitors choosing the Suffolk Coast instead of travelling abroad because of the extreme heat or disruption to overseas travel?
Or have you experienced something completely different?
We’re particularly interested in real examples and observations from your business, rather than formal statistics – even a few sentences would be really useful.
