Six local charities including EACH, CLAPA and Suffolk Wildlife Trust - Martlesham Wilds set to receive £2,000 with fundraising efforts of Woodbridge Shufflers Running Club, racegoers and sponsors.
About the 10k
The event, which features a 10k circuit for Seniors, and a separate Junior race, follows the success of last year’s race, which returned triumphant after a two year break due to the pandemic. This great 10k race has been staged in the town for over 40 years and has raised over £100k for local charities.
How to enter
The race entry is open to the public on 18th March at noon. Those wishing to try for a place should keep a close eye on the Woodbridge Shufflers website and social media channels just before noon, where the link to the entry portal will be made available.
Lucy Beales, Club Secretary, says:
“As always, we are expecting the race to be over-subscribed, so make sure to keep a close eye on the clock to give yourself the best chance of bagging a place! Runners will receive a commemorative t-shirt as part of their entry fee - we have a fantastic t-shirt design under wraps, and we can’t wait to see the runners proudly wearing their efforts in the town after the race.”
The event is a huge social event with spectators turning up in their droves to support the runners over the two-lap course which passes The King’s Head, The Bull, The Duke Of York, The Cherry Tree, The Anchor and The Red Lion as well as The Galley restaurant - not to mention all the shops and cafes in The Thoroughfare.
Six local charities to benefit from £12,000 fundraising pot
As always, the race will use the race proceeds to make very generous donations to local charities. The charities, which are nominated and elected at the Shufflers’ annual February AGM, for this year, are:
- Cleft Lip & Palate Association (CLAPA)
- East Anglia's Children's Hospices (EACH)
- Home-Start in Suffolk
- St Elizabeth Hospice
- Martlesham Wilds – Suffolk Wildlife Trust
- Woodbridge Riding For the Disabled
Sponsors
The race could not take place without the generosity of its sponsors. This year’s sponsored places are now full, but if your business or organisation is interested in sponsoring next year’s race, please do email entries@woodbridgeshufflers.org.uk
